Coaching at the Sentience and Science Foundation
The Sentience and Science Foundation is now offering coaching as part of its endeavours to bring more consciousness around the nature of consciousness into the world. Sarah and Leonieke are certified non-dual coaches from Art of Life [link website?]. Non-dual coaching combines Western psychology and Eastern philosophy and work from three basic premises: that we are all interconnected; that we are not our thoughts, judgments, and feelings; and that inner development, through acceptance of and compassion with ourselves, is the way forward. Our approach is directed at experience of the present moment, and all that it brings with it. Through investigating the present, new insights can arise and may shed light on old problems. Non-dual coaching isn’t about changing yourself or your environment, but rather about returning to your essence, your true self. Due to conditioning from childhood events and a busy life, we tend to drift further and further away from our true selves. In non-dual coaching, you become aware of your schemas and of what underlies them. This allows you to reconnect with your centre and, from that centre, to truly connect with others.
For whom?
For anybody who struggles to keep up with life, who feels they don’t have time to pause and reflect. For people with busy jobs and studies, or a busy social life or family, and who want to keep this all up in a positive way. Or perhaps you want to explore why you don’t allow yourself more down time and how you could do things differently. For you seem to have it all but you don’t feel fulfilled. Perhaps you are wondering whether your job is the right fit for you. Or whether you are good enough for your role. Coaching at the Sentience and Science Foundation is for anybody who wants to dig deeper into what keeps you stuck in unhelpful patterns, and how to break free from them. Young and old. In English or Dutch.
Coaching with Leonieke
I have been working happily for quite some time as a (child and adolescent) psychiatrist at a large mental healthcare organization. Through my interactions with parents (and my own experiences as a mother of two teenagers), I realized how much people have to deal with, how many balls they keep in the air. I also discovered how much I enjoyed being there with people and supporting them in a positive and equal way. That’s how the idea to coach came about. As a psychiatrist, I am proficient in multiple techniques, and together we can explore what is most appropriate for your needs. This could include interpersonal or psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, or non-dual therapy and coaching. I work in and around Amsterdam and have limited availability.
Coaching with Sarah
I am a (neuro)scientist by training and have been working in university settings for over thirty years. I have always been fascinated by the behaviour of people around me, both in professional settings and personal life. I find it fascinating how far separated people can become from who they are and where they want to be. Working in academia has been an awe-inspiring experience. I love the scientific thrill it brings, the great joy of mentoring, supporting and coaching young scientists and I have found the political dealings and powerplays jaw-dropping. When I became a Mum myself to two (now teenage) boys, I realised that I needed and wanted more insight into my own hang-ups, hiccups, and schemas. That is why I properly embarked on my journey of personal discovery. Many years later, I am still working in Academia as a professor (albeit not as many hours), I am running the Sentience and Science Foundation, and I am enjoying standing beside people as they explore their personal journeys. I work out of Utrecht.
